Activator D

This. And forgetting what day it is.

Activator D is a chlorine-free pool treatment trusted by South African pool owners for over 20 years. Two bottles. Once a month. Crystal clear water, and your weekends back.

Pool keeps going green?

Every time it rains and the chlorine washes out, the algae comes straight back. You add more chemicals. It clears. It turns green again.

Meanwhile: red eyes, itchy skin, bleached costumes, and a growing pile of pool products you're not sure you actually need.

Activator D offers a better way

Your pool stays clear. Whatever the weather.

Activator D is a chlorine-free pool treatment that kills algae at the roots and prevents it from coming back.

Chlorine-free

No chlorine means no eye irritation, no itchy skin and swimwear that lasts longer.

20+ Years

Over 20 years on the market. Chosen by pool owners, maintenance companies, retailers and stockists across South Africa.

Proudly South African

All raw materials sourced locally. Manufactured locally. Managed locally.

Gentle on swimmers. Safe for your garden. Easy on your wallet.

How it works

One treatment. Once a month.

And your pool stays sparkling. Through storms, heat, and heavy use.

Step 1

Before you start, check

pH levels are between 6.8 and 7.2
Alkalinity levels are between 80 and 120 ppm
Chlorine and salt levels are at 0 ppm

If alkalinity is low, add an alkalinity increaser first. A balanced pool means you get the full benefit from day one.

Step 2

Application

Backwash your pool for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the water runs clear. Rinse the filter for 1 minute.
Disconnect the pool cleaner hose from the weir. Set the valve to filter (not circulate/bypass) and start the pool pump.
Pour both bottles into the weir. Do not pour directly into the pool. Allow the product to mix in.
Reconnect the pool cleaner hose and resume your normal pump and cleaning cycles.

Step 3

Ongoing maintenance

Backwash once a week
Keep your pool brushed and baskets clear
For first-time use on a very green or neglected pool, use a double dose

Not recommended for salt chlorinated pools

Activator D does not kill E. coli (found in human faeces). For extra protection against bacteria, especially with extensive pool use such as hotels, schools and public swimming pools: Add 1 cup of chlorine into the weir with the pump running on filter, starting 3 days after adding Activator D. Follow up once a week. Do not sprinkle chlorine directly into pool water - it works through the filters and will not register in pool water.

Customer testimonials

Rated 4.8/5 from 980 reviews on Takealot

"I have never had a green pool in 2 years. Come rain or sunshine, my pool remains blue!"

Charmaine

"At one point my pool looked like something straight out of a nature documentary. I was half expecting David Attenborough to start narrating from the garden. Frogs probably had territories mapped out. Used Activator D and within a few hours it was back to a clean, respectable blue like it hadn't just been hosting wildlife. No drama, no endless effort, just sorted. I now keep spare bottles because I refuse to ever go back to 'ecosystem manager' instead of pool owner."

Nathan

"I've been using Activator D for nearly 10 years. It really is an all-in-one pool care product. I have not needed any other additives. Worth a try and significantly more cost effective than any other pool care chemicals."

Alan

"This is a game changer. I'm always swimming now. Low maintenance. I'm enjoying this product."

Makhosazana

"A pool company told me that I would have to drain my emerald green pool. Activator D cleared the water and I have been using it ever since."

Christine

"The best hassle-free product I have used in my 48 years of pool maintenance."

Joseph

"Kids love the pool without chlorine."

Clear water. Clear answers.

Activator D is a chlorine-free monthly pool treatment that kills algae at the roots and keeps your pool crystal clear. It comes in two bottles, a powder and a liquid, totalling 850g. One pack treats a 50,000 litre pool for one month.

When using chlorine based products and it rains, the chlorine washes out and the algae comes straight back. Whereas, Activator D kills algae at the roots, which means it doesn't keep coming back. Your pool stays clear through storms, heat, and heavy use, without any chlorine.

Yes. Activator D is non-toxic, non-corrosive, and chlorine-free. No burning eyes. No itchy skin. Swimwear lasts longer too.

One pack lasts one month for a 50,000 litre pool. For a 25,000 litre pool, use half. Activator D tends to last longer in fibreglass pools.

First, get your chlorine levels to zero. Then follow the standard application steps. Check your pH and alkalinity — pH should be between 6.8 and 7.2, and total alkalinity between 80 and 100 ppm for marbelite pools, or 80 to 120 ppm for fibreglass. Balance these before dosing. Once your water is balanced, backwash your pool for 3 to 5 minutes until the water runs clear, then rinse the filter for 1 minute. Disconnect the pool cleaner hose from the weir, set the valve to filter (not circulate/bypass), and start the pump. Pour both bottles into the weir, allow the product to mix in, then reconnect the hose and resume your normal cycles.
